The Oak Barn at Hittisleigh: a preview of Sarah & Ian's lovely wedding day

I spent most of Saturday with "I don't care what the weather man says, when the weather man says it's raining..." going round and round in my head!  Because despite the miserable forecast, the ominous clouds and pretty frequent showers, Sarah and Ian had The Most Lovely Day!  Not only that, but they were just the loveliest couple to celebrate with, and it was a real pleasure to be there for their gorgeous wedding day at The Oak Barn, Hittisleigh.  Those beautiful flowers are from Poppys of Exeter.  Here is a little peek at their photos:

A South Devon wedding at Mount Folly Farm: Claire & Alec preview

Congratulations to the lovely Claire and Alec who got married yesterday at St Mary's Church, Berry Pomeroy, with a glorious reception afterwards at Mount Folly Farm at Bigbury-on-Sea. South Devon is such a beautiful area, and this spot has to be one of the most particularly lovely parts of the region.  It was really wonderful to watch the waves crashing all day in the distance as everyone enjoyed the celebrations in the sunshine.  Here is a very quick preview of their day:

A North Devon wedding at Tunnels Beaches, Ilfracombe: Hannah & Marek

"Thank you sooo much!!!  We absolutely love the pictures.  I'm so glad that we found you!"

On a showery day in August 2012, Hannah and Marek celebrated their wedding in Ilfracombe, North Devon.  Tunnels Beaches is a particularly gorgeous spot to get married, with a private beach attached to the venue, the rather awesome access tunnels and if you are lucky, the most spectacular sunsets over the sea.  I think we were rather lucky indeed that day - there were two of the most torrential showers, but the timing of them both was perfect (mid-morning, then later in the afternoon), and Hannah and Marek managed to pull off an outdoor ceremony in the glorious sunshine!  Not only that, but we were treated to a truly lovely sunset at the end of the day, allowing the newlywed couple to spend some really special time together on the beach while I captured the moment for them.

There were many other amazing things about this wedding.  Hannah and Marek got ready together in the morning - as Hannah said to me, it seemed almost a stranger idea to get ready separately.   Marek had also helped Hannah to choose the beautiful wedding dress, so it was very much a team effort right the way through.  I loved this quote from Hannah:

"The day was special to Marek and I in so many ways.  I'm glad we spent the whole day together; getting ready, etc.  We've been together for 5 years before getting married and we truly are best friends. I needed my best friend that morning leading up to the ceremony."

Marek joined Hannah in the grooming process, having his hair slickly brylcreemed to fit with the 40s/50s.  Hannah had the most elegant 'up do', and just looked absolutely beautiful.  Hannah and Marek's Cockerpoo, Wulfric, took a particular like to the pink bridal petticoat and made himself comfortable there while everything else was going on!

Hannah and Marek love dancing - in fact, when I did their engagement photographs at Woolacombe (here), they started dancing in the waves, which was particularly wonderful!  So they surprised their guests by having the entire bridal party take it in turns to dance up the aisle - just brilliant :).  Then they danced again at the end of the ceremony!  The music for the day was carefully chosen by by the couple, with an amazing range of big band swing, jitterbug and Rock'n'Roll music from across the decades, creating the most wonderful atmosphere throughout the whole day.

It was a gorgeous, relaxed celebration, from start to finish, and I absolutely loved photographing it.  I hope that you will enjoy sharing it too:

Hestercombe Gardens: a pre-wedding session preview

I had a lovely afternoon recently, meeting up with Siân and Darren for their pre-wedding photo session.  We went to the beautiful Hestercombe Gardens in Somerset, and I was completely spoilt for choice with endless amazing places to take photos!  Here is a quick peek at three of my favourite images.  I am really looking forward to Siân and Darren's Somerset wedding next month!

First Year baby photography: Hudson newborn and at 6 months

One of the very best parts about my job is that I often get to see people again, and photograph them in different circumstances.  I love catching up with brides and grooms as guests when their friends get married (and they have been kind enough to recommend me!), and it is always a real pleasure to return to a family at different stages.  After photographing Susie and Scott's wedding in 2011, it has been wonderful to visit them and capture images of their gorgeous son, Hudson, as he grows through his first year.  I am due to make the third instalment of his First Year photography this summer, as he is now approaching his first birthday.  I thought that this was a really nice excuse to have a quick look back at some of the images that I took when he was newborn, and then at six months old.  Hudson, I can't wait to see you again soon!

A beautiful summer celebration for Natalie & Mat's wedding: preview

I have big admiration for a bride who wears a beautiful big white dress, but also morris dances and plays football!  So a big nod of respect, and huge congratulations to Nat and Mat, who celebrated their wedding in style yesterday at Lorton House in Weymouth.  It was a beautiful sunny June day, perfectly complemented by the bunting, garden games and stunning summery flowers.  I know that Natalie and Mat are looking forward to having a peep at their images, so here is a little preview of their lovely wedding day:
